Lesbian Not Criminal – On Tour

Tonje Gjevjon is an artist and musician who has been cancelled for her belief that sex is binary and that men cannot be women. Following Facebook posts where Tonje wrote about a prominent Norwegian trans activist who describes himself as a lesbian using his ‘dead name’ and referring to him as a man throughout, she faces a fine or a year in jail for breaching Section 185 of the Penal Code which outlaws ‘hateful speech’.

The Gender Recognition Reform Bill in Scotland will, if enacted, allow any man to declare himself a woman and a lesbian. A lesbian who challenges him, may be found guilty under the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Bill on a charge of Aggravation of Offences by Prejudice. To be clear, it is considered prejudiced to say that a man cannot be a lesbian.

Join LGB Alliance and Lesbian Labour at this women-only event to hear Tonje’s story, and to listen to informed and impassioned speakers discussing the perils we are facing. It’s an opportunity to plan, make connections and share experiences. We’ll end the evening with drinks, conversation and live music from Tonje and Paula Boulton. Don’t miss this opportunity to amplify lesbian voices in opposition to Self-ID at an event created by lesbians, for lesbians.
