Lesbians, gay men and bisexuals (LGB) are routinely denied self-determination, representation and a voice by businesses, charities national institutions and media outlets which insist we must be referred to as ‘the LGBTQ community’.

This despite the fact that many aspects of TQ ideology are deeply homophobic – the suggestion that it is appropriate for a man to ‘identify’ as a lesbian, for example.

We are increasingly alarmed by the addition of the ‘+’, to create LGBTQ+.

We are calling on organisations, in the UK and worldwide to reveal what they believe the + represents? We are asking:

Who falls under it?
What characteristics do they share?
What issues do they raise, and how does your organisation intend to respond to them?
What discrimination do they face, and on what basis?
• On what basis should they be grouped with lesbians, gay men and bisexual people in your organisation’s workplace policies, in legislation, anti-discrimination frameworks and public policy?

We have written to the British Medical Association and will share their response here.

Take a look at the International efforts to challenge the force-teaming of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals with individuals or groups who may cause us harm.
