On Thursday 3 October 2024 a report on “Preventing and combating violence and discrimination against lesbian, bisexual and queer women in Europe” will be presented to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, of which the UK is a member.
The report will be presented by Rapporteur Beatrice Fresko-Rolfo. The report is 16 pages long and could be mistaken as a press release from the captured lobby group ILGA Europe or the TQ+ inclusive EL*C – EuroCentralAsian Lesbian* Community. In fact these are the two organisations who are quoted most frequently in the report.
The Rapporteur mentions LGB Alliance only once – saying:
“I also agreed to a virtual bilateral meeting with representatives of the LGB Alliance, with whom I expressed my disagreement on their decision to exclude lesbian transgender women from the LBQ women’s group. I reiterated that transgender women are women.” Section 3 para 20 https://pace.coe.int/en/files/33732/html
LGB Alliance first wrote to the Rapporteur on 15th April of this year, explaining that we do not accept the grouping of lesbian, bisexual and queer women as it includes men. Our detailed letter was followed by a Zoom call in July. We then presented evidence of discrimination and violence against lesbians – pointing out that the most serious problem is the totally unnecessary medicalisation of same-sex attracted girls. We also presented evidence about:
1. the law – redefining lesbians
2. influencers – in the legal profession
3. sexual coercion / rape – males who want sex with lesbians
4. physical violence
All of this has been ignored. We believe this reflects poorly on a democratic organisation and is in itself discriminatory towards lesbians!
We have therefore emailed the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, Theodoros Rousopoulos today. We have asked him to send a copy of our report PACE Evidence 30 Sept 2024 to all representatives of the Assembly before the debate. That way Representatives can be made aware that the views put forward by Rapporteur Fresko-Rolfo are ideological and far from representative of the views of lesbians and all those who believe in biological reality.
We invite you to contact any of your own country’s Representatives at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and draw their attention to this shocking example of bias in the democratic process.
