Statement on James Esses case

(1 August 2021).

As reported in the Mail on Sunday today, James Esses was expelled from his Master’s in psychotherapy without warning after expressing his views on improving safeguarding, therapy and counselling for vulnerable children with gender dysphoria.

He has now launched a crowdfunder to raise money for legal action against his expulsion, which has raised almost £30,000 since launching earlier today.

Bev Jackson, co-founder of the LGB Alliance said:

“We are appalled by the way James Esses has been bullied out of his career. Like LGB Alliance, James is simply calling for a broad and rational discussion of the approach to gender dysphoria in minors. This is a core issue for LGB Alliance, which is concerned that gender non-conforming children, many of whom are likely to grow up LGB, are receiving inappropriate and harmful treatment.”
